New News:February, 2008 Marketing Committee: RiverCenter has set up a Marketing Committee to work on promoting Red Bank. Restaurant Association: A couple of Red Bank restaurant owners expressed interest in setting up a Restaurant Association to help promote the eateries in town. In light of increased competition in particularly in Asbury Park and Long Branch, they've asked RiverCenter to assist them in organizing and with ideas. We held our first organizational meeting at RiverCenter on February 6th. If you would like to participate, please contact us. FREE Advertising: NJ Transit has chosen Red Bank as one of the towns along their rail to participate in their Deals & Destinations program. On their website, they have the D&D link that opens up a page where participating businesses can advertise and even offer a coupon. The advertising is FREE of charge. The Community Art Show The Community YMCA Children's Cultural Center will be hosting its annual Community Art Show on Sunday March 2, 2008 from 2pm-5pm. Asbury Park Press to Launch 40*74 The Asbury Park Press will be launching a new monthly magazine in April called 40*74. These are the "GPS Coordinates of Gracious Living" at the Jersey Shore. This monthly magazine will be direct mailed to households in Monmouth and Ocean County with net worth of $2 million and above. It will focus on luxury retail items, food and dining, fashion, travel, social scenes, and a calendar of events. Membership MeetingsMembership breakfast meetings are scheduled throughout the year to update the business community on the various events, programs, and issues in Red Bank. These meetings are held at different locations in the Red Bank business district. The next RiverCenter Breakfast Networking Meeting will be held at Osteria Dante, 91 Broad Street on Wednesday, February 20th at 8:30 AM.
Horticulture ProjectA flowerpot may be purchased for the season. These pots are then planted, cultivated, and watered and are removed at the end of the season.
BenchesThe office coordinates the ordering, placement, maintenance and repair of commemorative benches placed throughout downtown.
Street Cleaning & MaintenanceThe streets, sidewalks, tree pits, etc. are kept clean by Guaranteed Landscaping and RiverCenter coordinates this project.
Mailing Lists and LabelsAddress lists and/or labels are provided to businesses in the district upon request.
Market KitsA kit with information on the SID, market facts, interesting articles about Red Bank, etc., are supplied to anyone requesting information about the business community.
Real Estate ListingsWe maintain and update listings of available rental space and buildings for sale. These lists are faxed or mailed to individuals requesting tenant or building inventory. An information sheet for prospective individuals to fill out and return is also included. RiverCenter then contacts them if their specifications become available.
Vendor RequestsThe office receives calls from crafters and vendors who are interested in participating in Red Bank events.
Web Site at RedBankRiverCenter.orgRiverCenter updates the RedBankRiverCenter.org website. We add new events to the calendar on the website.
Solicitation PermitsRiverCenter issues permits for non-profit organizations wishing to solicit for donations. These permits are good for two weeks time. Only two organizations are allowed to be out simultaneously. An organization must provide a letter on their stationary and include their tax-exempt number, dates of solicitation, and contact name. The dates are noted on our calendar, and the permit is stamped and given to the organization.
Red Bank Gift ChequesRed Bank Gift Cheques can be used as gift certificates at all stores in Red Bank that have an agreement to honor them. A letter explaining how they work is supplied with the certificates. Individuals wishing to purchase Red Bank Gift Cheques can come in to the RiverCenter offices to purchase them. Click here to see a list of participating retailers. Gift Cheques can also be purchased at Funk and Standard Variety Store and Valley National Bank.
Fashion ShowsA non-profit organization may call RiverCenter to schedule a fashion show. Once a date is established, letters are sent out to businesses asking if they would like to participate. The information is then sent to Mary DeMont of Barbizon, who coordinates the show.
Resource LibraryRiverCenter maintains a resource library containing items such as newspaper archives, photo albums, etc. available for loan.
DatabaseRiverCenter consistently maintains and updates a database containing property owner and business information.
AccountingAll invoices for projects and programs are maintained and processed through RiverCenter.
Generate Press ReleasesManage all media contact nationwide.
Provide Staff SupportRiverCenter operates thru the all volunteer Task Forces, Executive Committee, and Board of Directors. RiverCenter is represented as a member of Red Bank Advisory Boards including Borough Special Events, KaBoom and Visitors' Center.
Holiday Decorations FundraiserVaries from year to year. A fundraiser is given each year to provide monies to purchase and maintain the holiday decorations.
Town & Christmas Tree LightingThe Christmas tree and town lighting traditionally occurs on the day after Thanksgiving. This event takes many hours of coordination and volunteer time. This includes entertainment for the event, all borough and police requests, and finding a tree and placement.
Menorah LightingRiverCenter, along with the Arts & Antiques District, participate in a Menorah Lighting at the Red Bank Train Station. A local temple provides the program of song and dance.
Charter School Internship ProgramRiverCenter is coordinating a program for students from the school to provide office assistance and volunteer time at the office.
Educational Partners ProgramRiverCenter is coordinating a program for students from Red Bank schools to provide office assistance and volunteer time at local businesses. A Career Fair sponsored by RiverCenter is held at the Red Bank Middle School each year.
Grants and LoansInformation on grant and loan programs is made available to the business district.
VIC GrantsThe Visual Improvement Committee reviews applications for façade renovations within the district. Applicants must provide complete plans and meet borough requirements for consideration.
Red Bank RepresentationSeveral times a year RiverCenter represents Red Bank at local, county, state, and national meetings on economic development, tourism, real estate and retail matters.
CalendarSeveral times a year, calendar updates are sent to the county, state and shore for their distribution.
Media InquiriesSeveral times a month, RiverCenter receives questions or requests for interviews from the media; the Director or a Board member answers these requests.
Study ToursInternational and domestic study tours visit from communities in New Jersey, across the United States and abroad several times a year.
Track BenchmarksRiverCenter tracks benchmarks to measure success.
Holiday DecorationsRiverCenter district coordinates the installation, maintenance, and removal of the holiday decorations. New decorations are purchased from a fundraiser held during the year.
Grant WritingRiverCenter applies to various agencies for grants to increase available programming dollars for seasonal events.
