ABOUT NEW JERSEY ONE CALL: CALL BEFORE YOU DIG
In 1974, Garden State Underground Plant Location Service (GSUPLS) was created by New Jersey Utilities as a voluntary organization of operators of underground facilities. In October, 1994 the Underground Facility Protection Act was signed into law and the NJ Board of Public Utilities (BPU) was designated as the agency charged with overseeing and enforcing compliance with the "One Call Law." All operators of underground facilities are required by law to participate in and comply with the requirements of the One- Call Prevention System. As of November 1999, The BPU designated One Call Systems, Inc., as the operator of the One-Call Damage Prevention System.

- Supporting employee involvement and investment
The Foundation reflects our corporate philosophy of providing community support and is funded solely by FirstEnergy, an investor owned, diversified energy services holding company.

- Direct grants to individuals, political or legislative activities
- Organizations that receive sizable public tax funding
- Organizations already supported by federated campaigns, such as United Way
